I have a pair of moustache parrots 07 Bred and she has started laying eggs, but the thing is she aint laying them in a box. She is laying them from the perch and there is a box in there but i have never seen her go in it and they have been mating for the last couple of weeks.
I have tried putting fruit at the hole of the entrance, neither goes to get the fruit.
I have tried the box on the bottom of the suspended, near a perch and on the back wall but nothing?
Any ideas?

Hey Damo, she may be a little on the young side & another year may make all the difference. Also the nest box may be placed in the wrong location. My birds like their nest boxes located at the back of the aviary as high as i can get it to the roof. You could also place another nest box in her cage so she can choose herself.
I have a pair of Crimson Bellied Conures housed here. They belong to a friend. These birds have chosen a 3 foot long X 1 foot square nest box to lay their eggs in. I could not believe they didn't use the small box i actually placed in there for them.
Good luck with them.

I have one placed at the very back and the newest 1 i put in today was more to the front and she has started going in to that 1. I love the crimson bellied conures, they stand right out with the red belly.

Great Damo, lets hope she lays in the box for you. There is nothing more disappointing that finding smashed eggs on the ground.
I will check the Crimson Bellies eggs on the weekend to see if they are fertile. I hope so for my friends sake as he paid $16.000-00 for them 4 or 5 years ago. Yep a hell of a lot to pay but thems the breaks.

Finally She is in the box sitting. Yeh you would hope that they are fertile after spending that much. They have dropped in price dramatically over the last few years, i do wish birds could stay at 1 price but when somebody start putting a lower price on something that means everybody has to.

Hey Damo, hope you have some luck this time & she hatches out some bubs for you.
Well i wondered where i put the bit on the Crimson Bellied Conures. I am happy to report we have fertile eggs. So hopefully when they hatch i can post some pic's.
Damo the price for them has dropped so much because they breed so well. When i bought my first pair of Green Cheeks they cost me $1000 now you are flat out getting $100 for a hand reared one.
