hi all, my princess parrot has a chick in the box and it is around 4 weeks old. The mum doesnt seem to be goin to the box much anymore and she hasnt been to the box at all tonight. have been checkin the chick and it seems to be healthy. I had to remove a parrot out of their cage today and am just hopin i havnt disturbed her too much. is it normal for the mum to spent so much time out of the box? thankyou for any advice.

Once babies get to about 4 weeks the mother won't spend much time in with them, just to feed. Just make sure that the baby's crop is full.

I am so sorry I am late replying to this. Yes I have noticed that my hens will stay out of the nest once the chicks get to a certain age and especially in the heat.
