hi all, back again. Had a problem of late, in the last two weeks i have had 3 bourkes die on me for a reason i don't know. After the first one died i took the birds out of the cage and scrubbed the cage big time. I have been told birds can be affected by mossies? is this true. I have seen a cat hanging around and thought that might be scaring them into shock. but im a bit stuck. i want to work out the problem before i replace the birds, i don't want to put the kids ( and myself) through all this again if i can help it. Any help would be appriecated. Thanks in advance.

Bourke's do get a bit flighty and scare pretty easy, the cat is definitely a possibility, how has the weather been where you are has it been exceptionally hot? have you changed their diet in any way? perhaps a different brand of seed or you have added a different component to what they eat? has their surroundings changed in any way? different cage or aviary perhaps. As you can see there are a lot of things that can cause sudden death, and I have listed only a few I suggest you sit down and think of any thing that may have changed or has shown up such as the cat coming around. Let us know what you come up with and we will try and assist you even more it is indeed a worrying problem when all of a sudden you start to loose birds for no apparent reason. John
