In researching which companion bird would be best for me, I'm now interested in Alexandrines as a lot of the breeders I've looked at breed Alexandrines too. (I was looking at Eclectus Parrots and Galahs, leaning more towards a Galah...)
I just wanted to know from your experience, are Alexandrines typically cuddly? I've found many different sources saying that they aren't at all and other sources saying that they are. I suppose it would be an individual thing, but I just wanted to know what your experiences were?

cuddly like a cockatoo type bird?? No ...... affectionate? Yes. Alexandrines are a lovely bird and they were on my list that I had narrowed down also. lol I own 4 at the moment (I have owned 2 others previously also) and am handraising a little one at the moment. In my opinion they are a lovely all round medium sized bird. They don't get too many things wrong with them.......if they are looked after properly of course. Both male and female can talk and they can be taught tricks and they are very intelligent and inquisitive birds too.
Takoda is one that I bought from a breeder friend and I handraised him.....he is now in an aviary with a mate called "no name" lol (she was a found bird given to me but everyone who rang up wanted a male and she is definetly a hen.......so she has stayed), but Takoda still flies to me when I am in the aviary and sits on my shoulder and kisses me and licks my face and gives me tongue kisses too lol. When he was my house pet he would sit on my shoulder and preen my hair and eye brows and lick my cheeks and when he gives me kisses he sticks his tongue out. He also liked to rub his head on my face and my hair. Shrekie is a female I bought for my older son as a house warming pressie (he wanted a bird)....18 months later I inherited her due to her loud noise lol ......... she is not that noisy in my opinion but I guess when you are in your mid twenties and like to sleep in until 9 or 10 am on the weekends ....... a bird of any kind might be loud lol. Oh and Shrekie also likes to fly to me and sit on my shoulder and tell me I am a good girl and she is a good girl and kiss kiss also ;D They do make lovely pets.
No matter what breed of bird you do decide to get ...... you get out of them what you put in ;D
