How are you all??? I'm happy to be back

A BIG [glow=red,2,300]Hello[/glow] to those that remember me on here, and just as a big [glow=red,2,300]Hello[/glow] to those, that don't know me !!

I used to be a member on here by the names of BirdLady and Rainbow_Feathers ......then I dissappeared on n off, for who knows what reasons (personal crap) lol.
I used to own a lot of parrots, think it was about 20 in the end......but had to downsize to 4...because of personal living situations/circumstances....but my love for parrots has not died or diminished....I'm back baby, I'm back ;D ;D

I've lived my fare share in NSW and a bit in Qld (due to ex-hubby being in the army) but I am now settled back in SA (been living here since Dec 2009).
I only have 4 birds now .... a pet Galah named Polly ( I didn't name her). A pet Rainbow Lorikeet named Spunky (got him/her of Pinkdevil) and then I have my pair of aviary lovebirds..Pipi and Pip Sqweak.

Some of the birds I used to have (and now [glow=red,2,300]majorly[/glow] regret ever selling them) was... Indian Ringnecks, Green Cheeck Conures, Scarlets, Rosa Bourkes, Red-Rumps.

My plans, on my future avian activities, seem to be changing all the time...but considering I am limited to what I can do atm...lately I been thinking about setting up a small outdoor aviary and just having a mix of mutations of Lovies in there and just focusing on that. Dunno...one will see I guess

Anyways.... bit about me...... My name's Kat. I'm 33 yo. I am now living in SA. I am seperated. I have three young children, all boys
I LOVE animals.....and parrots are my weakness
Besides my 4 birds, I also have 2 dogs and 2 cats.

Hi Kat, great to see you back here - it's been a while hasn't it.

Sorry you had to part from some of your birds - I know how hard that can be.

The shop went broke and closed in August, so I am now officially retired, which I am quite enjoying And still got all my flock.

Yeah, had to part with my pride and joy, my beautiful "collection" of parrots...really regret letting them go. Worst mistake ever. I should've just grit my teeth, and worked thru it, if only I knew things will get better and EASIER. Oh well...back to square 1, I go ;o))

Hey Mike, I'm glad you're still on here! So shop went broke?? How come, that must suck, that was such a cool place!! Was it because you relocated or something?? What did you do with all the birds you had up for sale??

Hi Kat,

You probably hav never talked to me before because I think I joined after you left (I have been on this forum for about a year). Anyways, I love the pics of your birds (you have a beautiful Galah). Anyway for the garden aviary I think that maybe you should have a mix of Lovebirds and Cockatiels.

I would not mix lovebirds with any other breed but lovebirds or peachface. They can be aggressive.....and cockatiels would suffer.

We had to relocate - landlord and lease problems - and the new place wasn't really big enough. And unfortunately it coincided with the public deciding that spending money was too risky so trade dropped to an unsustainable level, as well as increasing problems with internet sellers, and closure became necessary. Lost a lot of money

Anyway we are pretty relaxed now, and the Greys are still doing fine - though they do miss not going into the shop everyday I think.

The shop birds all got sold, except for one that I kept for my aviary. It is a hen and a cross between a Ringneck and a Crimson Wing!! And since it father was a lutino ringneck it has turned out pure yellow. it has a brother around here somewhere I have to track down and photograph, and then I'll write it up for one of the bird magazines.
