My Princess Parrot has now laid 3 eggs on the floor of the aviary dispite their being 2 brand new Z boxes in there. Two were broken but the third was whole so I put it under a cockatiel sitting on eggs. I don't know if it is fertile, but she has been very clucky lately. How can I get her into the breeding box?

have you seen her in the box at all?? Maybe you could try one different type of nesting box?? So she has a choice of different types of nesting box.....does that make sense???

Sounds like she is dropping her eggs from the perch Laraine. Yes a couple of different style nest boxes would be a good idea. She may not be happy with what is offered. Do you have any history on the birds at all. The only other thing i can think of is that she is only a first time layer & not sure yet.

She is a first time mum. I'll put an ordinary type of box in, but I only have the Z shaped that are really big enough, but will try a different size. No I haven't seen her in, she sits outside sometimes. Maybe its a bit scarey as they are quite big.

I am by no means an expert......but I have read that some birds not necessarily specific breeds but just some birds like to have a choice......
I am lucky that all mine so far like the ones Stephen has made for them.

I felt so bad this morning, she had laid another egg on the floor so I took it and put it under the tiels. When I went back she was on the floor looking for it. No wonder she has been spending so much time on the floor lately. I put an alternative box in on Saturday, but things haven't changed. Poor girl, I feel like a baby thief.
