I am new to bird breeding but have had birds for a long time as pets. About four months ago I purchased what I was told was a bonded pair of white-faced cockatiels. Through the change of environment etc I had to go through the process again. I was about to give up and rehome my pair, however I am forever grateful to a breeder that rather than jumping at the chance to take them, she gave me some invaluable advice.
Today they mated for the first time and for about a week the male (Harry) has been in and out of the nest. The female (August) went in for the first time this afternoon. Harry is a normal grey white-face. I am not so sure about August as she seems to me some sort of pearl. She is almost all white apart from her back and wings that have a silvery pearl over them.
A week ago I purchased a pair of blue masked lovebirds. I believe that they have had two clutches of babies so far and hopefully they will be successful breeders
. I have named them Albert and Florence. I got them off a novice breeder and they weren't sure what the colours were. I did some research and believe that the male is normal blue and the female cobalt but not sure.
That is the extent of my collection so far and I hope to add to it soon.
