Ive recently had a large aviary built to house a pair of quarrion , bourke and scarlet parrot. I also have Bob and Ollie my six year old hand reared who are also breeders , they have been in a largish cage all their lives except to fly about the house . Ive been agonising over the quality of their lives in the cage when there is a large aviary that they can explore and decided to give it a go and see how they cope. Its been such an adventure for them and my partner and I have had to help them out a couple of times like at night when they dont know where to roost and there bedtime has been our bedtime so we have to carry them into the sheltered part of the aviary and settle them in and when we had a hail storm and again they were carried to the shelter ( shadecloth has since been put over the wire roof ). Ollie doesnt understand that the bird bath is the water supply and she only needs to dip her head for a drink not reverse into the entire bird bath then drink. They still havent found their wings and still climb but they taking short flights every now and then. They are other wise loving the sunshine and freeedom , the chewing branches and having a solid floor instead of a grate . I know this is probably a very boring post but I had to share as its fascinating to watch them interract with other birds and become birds themselves , best part is I still get cuddles when I go into the avairy .

it is not boring and it is lovely to watch them be able to have relative freedom.......I put Erik in the outside spare aviary now during the day so he can have more space to move around......he comes back inside in the afternoon and he is allowed to fly around the house then. He can also scream to his hearts content without "hurting" our ear drums ;D

I love to sit and watch our birds, I get great enjoyment out of it. And you get to know your birds that way too.
As for the noise Trace - oh yeah, I hear ya girl..................loud and clear!
