Hi all, 1 pair of Scarlets - no stress. Given a second pair - no stress in the small enclosure. Now they are in the big aviary there is a huge amount of aggression from the small male to the bigger male. Have 3 nesting boxes in, all at the same height and all the same size........ Have asked the local breeders and have received conflicting info.....one says that I need at least 3pairs of the same species and then things will settle down. The other breeder says that nothing will make a difference - it's just breeding season. HELP PLEASE )) I don't want to come home one day to a dead bird. Any suggestions appreciated Cheers Karen

I have no idea Karen.......hopefully someone with more knowledge on that breed can help you. Can you separate them for a while anyway??

The 3 pair rule does work with finches for some reason so maybe there is something in that advice other than that as said keep them separated at least until after breeding season . I have 1 pair in a mixed aviary , no nest boxes at the moment and Ive noticed my male Scarlet acting strange too , breeding season can bring out the worst in them.

Thanks for the replies. We separated them last week and all is quiet now but we really wanted to get them back into the bigger aviary before the female lays. Cheers Karen
