Hi Kingsam & welcome.
I need more info from you before i can help.
What do you mean by fussy?
A six week old bird should not be weaned yet, it should still be having hand rearing formula.
Is it still on formula?
Can you please explain your concerns & why.
Thanks.
Robyn.

yes at 6 weeks it should still be on at least 3 feeds a day. It should also be learning to eat some solid food like finely cut fruit/veges and a bit of seed or a millet spray ......... just for starters.

Hi guys He/She is is refusing formula and i don't want to force him, he has fledged and is great at flying..(is 7 weeks on monday)...but wont accept formula even though i know he is supposed to still wanting /begging for it....he always has millet, sprouts, pellets, seed, veg and fruit in the cage plays a little with this but not enough to survive .....but for the formula is just not wanting is and i really hate to force him but am getting to the point where i may/will have to........9 cockatiel babies were easier than the 1 king....but i love him...he has been like this for the past 2 weeks and every day he is harder to feed

I suspect your bird might be older than you think??? I have never raised a king parrot so I am not familiar with their "milestones" but my birds (alex's and eclectus) usually become pains to feed formula at around 9 weeks (the alex's usually a little earlier than 9 weeks but this time around Rikki was around 9 weeks old when he became near impossible to feed formula too). I just basically feed them with a syringe (not a crop) at this stage and feed them as much as I can physically get into them.......they don't starve but do lose a lot of weight during this period........they usually do end up demanding their formula within a few days or a week or so .......... although this time around Rikki didn't he just was a right royal pain to feed during the last 2 or 3 weeks but luckily by then I had him 2 feeds per day and then one feed per day.......and now he has not had formula for 1 week today ;D
