Hi all, I have one pair of budgies (Now, I had 3 and I wanted to get another pair but wasn't allowed ) But they have eggs Now! The hen had been going in and out of the nest boxes for at least 2 months, checking each one 4 or 5 times a day! but last week I noticed that she had been flicking wood chips around in one certain nest, and scratching around in there (Also both have chewed 3/4 the thickness of wood of the top, now its only 2mm thick) Yesterday I was able to see if she had eggs, and I think there was one (Couldn't quite see, she kept getting in the way) if they hatch their eggs what colors could I get? As the hen is Grey (Single factor) and the cock is purple (Double factor) Thanks in advace

When people talk about purple budgies they generally mean a bird that is a combination of the Cobalt gene and the Dark Factor. Either or both of those genes can be single or double factor. Do you know which of the genes is double factor in your bird. A grey coloured budgie is a combination of the grey-green gene and the blue gene. Without the blue gene it would appear as a grey green or olive budgie but when combined with blue a grey bird results. If you make the relevant entries into GenCalc - once you sort out the "purple" bird - then the results can be calculated. A good site for budgie mutations is www.budgieplace.com/colorsguide.htmlcheers, Mike

The hen has abandoned her eggs (I think...) I knew she had eggs In one nest box, I went to take the other one out and she flew out of it! (She scared me, lol) I don't mind, as this is her first clutch of eggs.
