Hi everyone, Yesterday, and this morning I noticed my male budgie (Cloud, I think 6 1/2 months old) was making a clucking kind of noise, and he was doing the head movement (and food throwing up thing...) that my other male budgie does with his mate. I think he might be lonely, would it be a good idea to get him a mate/another bird to live with?

Is he regurgitating to an object or a mirror? Male budgies do tend to become fixed on mirrors in particular and start hormonal type behaviour when on their own. My preference is that whenever possible birds be kept with one or more of their own species, so yes, I would get him a nice girlfriend! Even another male would be OK if you didn't want the complication of eggs and babies.
cheers,
Mike

He doesn't actually do it to any objects- he doesn't have a mirror, but several other toys... I don't really mind on the gender of the other bird- I did breed budgies (I kind of miss having all my aviary ones...)
