being a new owner to a baby GCC...i didnt realise just how much they chew (everything in sight!!) I only have a few toys for Duncan, 2 of which he has already destroyed!! I live out of town and cant get in to buy him anything else until the middle of next week so I improvised a bit... I cut a peice of a gum tree branch about 30 cms long (the branch is about halg inch thick) and then drilled 10mm holes thru the branch in different places. I then stuffed all sorts of good things onto the holes, like sultanas, raw peanuts, wholemeal bred, dried pawpaw and fresh apple. I put a little hook in the top of the branch and hung it from the top of his cage. he has almost turned himself inside out trying to get at all of the things!! All of this fun and it didnt cost a cent... gotta love that!! I think next time I will hang it in a spot that is harder for him to get to so it lasts a little longer!! He had this one emptied within 5 minutes!! I will post a pic when the batteries in the camera recharge (think Ive been taking to many pics of duncan!!!) ;D

greg.. I have swings for my birds just like that one. I collect nuts from around the area when they are on the trees and keep them in a bucket and then I usually give them away because my budgies dont chew thru them much so I only need to make a new one for them every 12 months or so. I think with Duncan I will be holding all to all of the nuts to make him toys... he has shredded a couple of toys already!! My birds love it when I use paperbark tree for the base of the swing..onlt takes a short time for them to strip the bark off!!
