OK ... I thought the medication was working when I stopped collecting different birds for over two years (other than my Quakers of course). The doctor said I'd be curred of collectinitis if I just kept saying to myself "I don't need another bird!"... but I'd been looking out for weeks now for an addition - just AN (ie SINGULAR) addition cause I needed a 'fix'. Finally my partner and I decided it was OK to get a PAIR of lovebirds - after all we have this patio aviary that had been sitting empty for two years now and was taking up space with nothing in it.
So we hopped into the car after feeding the little Quakers (as if these fellas weren't enough) yesterday morning and drove in a northerly direction for a couple of hours to a 'place' to get this pair of love birds - always wanted violets.
Well, so much for two ... we now have 6 (yes, S I X) masked birdies, three of which are being handraised - they took to the syringe like a duck to water.
Here are two of the adults. They'll be in the cage for a few days before moving to that patio aviary outdoors.
