Hey Guys
What time of year would be the best time to buy my King and Princess parrots? I am thinking early to mid spring. That way it will give my grasses and greviliias in my yet to be built aviary to establish. Or should I wait till later in the breeding season?

Tough call. Depends on the availablility in your area and if you are going for young birds or breeding pairs.
I prefer buying younger birds, it takes longer for them to start breeding, but you know the age and you can pair them up young and usually have a lot better chance of them bonding.
Cheers, Anthony
ps. Hope the birds are kind to your plants, mine usually aren't lol

Good luck with the grevillias in particular - the kings will probably love them!! I would look at buying very soon - the young birds are coming onto the market now. I would also recommend buying young, apart from knowing the history of the birds you are not buying known problems - infertile, egg eaters, feather pluckers etc can all be "inherited" from other breeders. Kings in particular can be harder to breed and each year many "mature breeding pairs" are sold which have never seen the inside of a nest box (or at least since fledging). The longer wait, for them to mature, is often worth while. Bests Greg
