I am building a large aviary 5.5m long by 3m wide by 2.6m high.
I have gone through the idea of housing many different species of birds and can't quite make up my mind. But I have always loved Rainbows, Scalys and Musks.
What I would like to know is, Is is ok to house a couple of pairs of rainbows with a pair of scalys and musks? I know the scalys and rainbows often mix breed so that may not be a good idea, so I guess a mix of a couple of pair of rainbows and musks together in a large breeding habitat aviary?
I plan to plant out the aviary with Grevillieas, wattyls and Bottle brushes for some natural food.

Hi, You are right - rainbows and scaleys will breed together freely, producing fertile offspring - so not a good idea. I wouldnt put musks in with the rainbows either, I think you will find that the rainbows will really give them a hard time. I have seen rainbows breeding in a colony situation in large flights, but generally most of our lorikeets do best 1 pair per flight, it is the same with most parrots.
