Hi Folks
I bought a Musk Lorikeet from a pet shop some months that was on special. The dealer gave me a discount saying that he was hand reared but had started biting. He also mentioned as I left that his wing had been clipped.
When I got home I realised that the wing clip had cut one of his large blood feathers up into the blood area. I thought to myself perhaps thats why he started biting
Anyway he/she is now back to being very tame but I am wondering when/if the feathers will grow back.
I read somewhere that this will happen when it molts. Is this correct and is there a particular time of year that this occurs.
Any further info on this would be appreciated Farnarkel

That's correct -a new wing feathers will grow in when your bird next moults and the cut feather falls out. Most adult parrots moult at the end of their breeding season which is normally in spring. However young birds can be a bit variable, and it is quite likely your Musk will moult in the autumn.
cheers,
Mike
