AJ hasn't been himself for a few days, and on Friday night he started wheezing. 
I know that's not at all good, so off to the vet we went today (it was the soonest I could get in)
I am taking him in again tomorrow so they can do a crop wash, and get to the bottom of what is going on. There were no obvious signs of anything - nothing at the back of his mouth, on his tongue etc. The vet thought he was a bit on the skinny side, but AJ wouldn't let us weigh him there, so I weighed him here at home. He's sitting at 397g! His weight was around 370g when I first got him! So that just doesn't make sense to me. AJ's not eating, which I am worried about. Not even tempted with corn on the cob or sunflower seeds. The vet on duty wasn't the one who worked with avian vets, but he will be there tomorrow. Like I say, with the crop wash and gram stains, we should find out what's going on. The vet gave me the option to put AJ on antibiotics and hope for the best, but not a good course of action with a bird! I got the feeling he is often asked by people to do that, which makes me sad. Not everything that makes a bird sick is bacterial.
Anyhow, that's where we stand at the moment. I should know more tomorrow around lunch time.
Oh, and a friendly reminder to everyone - know your bird! If you notice a change in behaviour, take them to a vet!

bird would be to give Probotics & Spark. Given together will sometimes be enough to give the bird the edge on a illness & help them recover without the help of antibiotics. Sometimes a bird will have an off day for unknown reasons & be OK in no time.
