Hi Ive looked at them, but wouldn't use them myself. Personally, I don't like the sound of giving them such a solid type food. Their brush tongues are designed for a soft or liquid diet. I don't know, but it just doesn't feel right, the thought of giving them a food to change the way nature meant their digestive & waste dispoal system to function. It doesn't sit right with me. Their poops are meant to be liquid. That's just my opinion though. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I'd rather stick to Passwell's Lorikeet Complete, fruit & the usual soft fare.

I bought the nectar pellets ages ago for my lorries, but it remained untouched, so it went to the other birds. I'm with you twr......lorries are meant to have runny bums, it's just one of those things. I have tried a few lorrikeet mixes now and I always seem to return to Paswell's - but I am ordering some Golden Rice Lorikeet mix as I know that they both loved it and their poops did settle a little with it. I've just had trouble getting it lately so buy the Paswell's. A lady from Vetafarm told me that the Passwells is loaded with too much sugar though, so not sure if that was just a marketing ploy or whether that's right? Any one else have any recommendations???

I have always regarded anything told me by Vetafarm reps with a big grain of salt. They are first and foremost a VERY commercial company, and while some of their products are very good, others are basically of little value. Their nector pellets are an example - I never got any lorikeet to eat the stuff. Lorikeets will eat pellets however - we used to have them eating Pretty Bird pellets quite happily. cheers, Mike

My lorries love Passwells and that's what I plan on sticking with. Do you use any Vetafarm products Mike? I buy the paradise pellets for my Eckies? Are they ok, or do you recommend something else? Thanks Flossy

I use their Maintenance pellets and their Nutriblend Pellets for my pet birds, not because I think they are the best but because I can still get them at wholesale and since our pet shop went bust money is at a premium now. I Think they are OK as pellets, and a better option than seed, but if I could I would be feeding Roudybush as first choice. We are currently trying to persuade our local vet (non-avian) to start selling Roudybush, since my daughter works part time there and so can get a very cheap price if they will stock it.
I think their specialised pellets like the Eclectus and Lori pellets are basically of no value beyond their basic pellets. Their wormer - Wormout Gel is good as are Spark and Polyaid. Aviclens works as described but is expensive and it's active ingredient, chlorhexadine, is available from chemists at 20% of the price. Their cage cleaner also works well, but so does cleaning vinegar.
So with Vetafarm it is a case of the good, bad, and indifferent.
cheers,
Mike

I've tried the Vetafarm nectar pellets also and they didn't seem to like them and I also think its better if the food they eat is a little softer however I did crush them and add them to their wet food and they ate them all no problem. Defiantly resulted in less squirty poo.

My lorikeet and other birds love them and I sometime have to use them to lure my lorikeet back into his cage. I find that they do make a difference to their poop but it seems that it replaces the runnyness by making them bigger and more often! . Not sure which I prefer..... I also give him passwell and apricot nectar and use to give him golden Lori mix and sometimes still do. One downside I have with the nectar pellets is that his tongue doesn't seem quite as furry as it use to... I also give my other birds parrot essentials and nutripellets but only my galah shows interest in the coloured ones
