These guys will be coming to live at our place in a few weeks perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Pets-pet-supplies-pet-products-canaries-W0QQAdIdZ277853504It sounded such a genuine sale as he wants them to all stay together and after a few recent deaths of some of my old canaries, we now have room in the aviary for these guys. My dominant male, Rocket, seems to be pretty accepting of new males and since it isn't breeding season as yet, they should settle in pretty quickly. I said we didn't need the cage but $40 seems a pretty good deal for a cage that size.

On the 21st as the owners are away next weekend and we can only pick them up on the weekends. $15 is a pretty good deal for canaries in WA. Most pet shops sell them for $35-40 and most breeders around $20-$25. When I bought Tilly, that breeder also had some young canaries and he only charged me $10 each. I wasn't so fussed on colour, i was just touched that he cared about his birds so much that he wanted them to stay together and specified a good home as well. Some of my older girls are beyond breeding now and so 3 younger girls may help. Rocket, my dominant male, is a lovely grey lizard so he produces some nice offspring when they work out how to raise them.

Well the canaries are at home with me now. Very odd that the guy advertised them said he wanted them to stay together, yet sold one of the females I think all 3 must be Border's as they are much larger than most of other canaries. It's amazing how readily all my canaries are accepted into the fold with no squabbles, even at roosting time. Still it's isn't breeding season atm so hopefully I am not counting my chickens (or canaries ;D) before they hatch.
