Hi,
Somebody who has an extremely friendly 2 1/2 yr old male galah (Chook) is offering it to us for free just so long as it goes to a kind and friendly loving home.
My question is considering we already have Rocky, would this upset things or would they both fight if housed in the same cage, or is that too much to expect or not the done thing?
Considering Rocky is still nowhere near being tame or even approachable as yet would this be a good idea or not?.
Apparently the current owner has issues with her twin girls who are at a stage of injuring the galah and also she now cannot devote the amount of time to Chook that Chook so desires.
What would it cost to freight a galah from Brisbane to Adelaide?
Cheers, John

I would definitely keep them in separate cages at least initially. It may be that after a while they will get to be friendly enough to house together, but by no means certain. The plus is that having a friendly one around obviously enjoying attention, may well speed up the process with Rocky.
cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike,
That will probably then help us decide as to whether we take Chook or not, as there will be no more cages inside the house as far as I'm concerned, but I have also been known to be wrong before.
Cheers, John

If you can't have a separate cage, then, sadly my advice is not to do it. It would take time before you could even attempt to house them together and there's no guarantee that you will be able to do so in the future either. Have you considered getting the double bird cage, like mine? www.gtmall.com.au/double-bird-cage-with-center-divider.htmlYou would just have the one BIG cage, but it has a removable divider. I see they are out of stock, but I do know this same cage can be ordered via your local pet store. They would have to order it in for you probably, as for most stores it takes up too much display space. I almost bought mine through Petcare 2000 & it was more expensive in store, but wasn't outrageously so.
