hey guys new to this site and having a few problems with my eckies and came across this site. sorry if this has been asked before i did try looking in older threads but couldnt find that much relavent to my questions
to cut a long story short i have to pairs bought them as bonded pairs and are around 4 years old
both have had one lot of eggs before i bought them and they were clear. After me having the birds they both have had a second infertile clutch so im just wondering what is going on? and if theres anything you guys might be able to help me with to get them successfully breeding.
bit of extra info: -both pairs are very close and i have seen them both mating - males beaks look very bright orange so i think they would be mature enough -all birds in great condition -feed fresh fruit every day and get a wide variety of seeds and pellets.
so yeh if anyone could help would be greatly appreciated:) cheers Dael

I have answered your PM.
Improve on their diet. Add lots of greens as well as fruits. Raw almonds.
Don't give up on them they may just be late bloomers so to speak. A breeder friend of mine told me some don't start to breed until they are 7 years old. But I am sure you don't want to hear that.

Robyn......when you say improve on their greens what exactly do you recommend? My breeding pair are bonded but they are only 3 years rising, so I'm guessing I have a little wait!! 7 years!! wowowowow....that's a long time! But, that's ok, they aren't going anywhere....lol!
I know we have discussed something similar to this before - but I am interested in what you provide as daily staples for them.
Thanks heaps and Goodluck Dael - hope you get some fertile eggs soon!!

yeh they already get alot of greens including snowpeas, broccoli, spinch, peas aswell as getting fed corn, bannana, paw paw, manderin, pears, and a selection of nuts aswell you name it they get it. then they have a seed mix which also has some dried fruit mixed through it aswell so there spoilt for choice and dont seem to think its the food side of things.
both pairs are located very close to each other maybe 1m apart in there seperate avairys as i was told by a breeder generally if you have a few pairs they tend to breed fast due to them being in colonys out in the wild (suppose that goes for most birds)
i just think age could be a problem? like i said the people told me one pair was 4 and the other was nearly 5, but in saying that i was only taking there word for it and that can be a problem when buying new birds if your seeking to buy established pairs. there are people out there thats lye about how old they are but its very hard to know excatly how old they are.
so i suppose i might just have to wait it out and see what happens. its just strange how both pairs are showing all the signs of breeding and mating right but just no results.

Mine basically get all that too plus soaked seed, and whatever else I can find...lol. Some capsicum, chillies, half a boiled egg each every other week.....what else is there? Oh and some chicken bones as recommended by Robyn!! I was also giving them this recipe I got off another site, but have stopped making that recently....they do love anything squishy though...lol. Spoilt buggers they are hey? Yes, like me - you will have to wait and see what happens. There sure are liars out there and sometimes we get jipped....but what can you do? Good luck with your birds - hope you get some good results soon. At least yours are mating - mine are checking the box, making some weird sounds, doing the cha cha together...lol....but no mating ......
