have noticed this afternoon that Rio is rubbing is face on his cage and just about any thing he can rub is face on is this normal? I have noticed that he has some food that has dried on his beak could he be trying to get it off, wish I could help but if I try taking him out he flaps around like mad and screams. Should I spray him with warm water through the cage with a spray bottle?

He's probably trying to clean his beak. Mine do that all the time. Lorikeets usually enjoy a good bath, so if he doesn't have access to a bath (and many will use their water bowls) then perhaps he will enjoy a gentle misting. Mine are scared of the standard pump action spray bottles, preferring the the ones you pump to create a buildup of pressure which then creates a gentle continuous mist.

He has two water bowls in his cage one small and one large but he comes from a bad home were he did not get much attention,he has only been with us for a week now, so I'm holding thumbs that he will become tame and do normal lorikeet things. I tink I'll mist him in the morning

Another option is to take a stand into the bathroom when you have a shower. Izzy (scaly breasted lori) loves having a preen in the warm mist...she's also likes to practice her whistling and talking in the echo

Mine's always do that. After having her lunch or breakfast and always with a happy face. . She's trying to keep herself clean that way, so she rubs her beak man times of her perch after having some wet food, and sometimes she does it even on cage as well. She knows I like her beak to be clean, so she's trying hard. . Sometimes I even help her with my fingers if she can't reach it.
