Hi, I was wondering how canaries handle living in outdoor aviaries, I normaly keep various parrots (conures, ringnecks, corellas, lorikeets, cockatiels etc...) but have recently been interested in setting up a flight with canaries. The flight would be suspended and probably be 90 wide X 1.2m long X 1.2m high. I am located in Brisbane so the weather is fairly mild. Would this be a suitable size and how many could comfortably live together? I also recently saw canaries in an indoor aviary living with java and green finches and seemed to be living quite happily. It is ok to keep canaries with compatible finches? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have only kept my canaries an an outdoor aviary and they even seem to handle to handle the really hot temps in Perth. Never used flights but those dimensions sound fine. My aviary is only slightly bigger than that and I have 10 canaries in there atm. We have kept our canaries with various finches, mainly double bars in the old days. I also had my turk parrots in there as well and they all got along fine. I have heard that budgies and canaries shouldn't be kept together though.
