Hi,
Im looking for a just-weaned female Jenday Conure (need DNA sexing certificate) as a partner/buddy for my 7 month old male Jenday Conure.
We are located in the Hills District of Sydney and the bird is not really for breeding purposes, but I understand they may try to breed anyhows (Please advise if you think it would be better/easier to just get another male Jenday??)
Can anybody recommend any breeders or does anybody have any for sale now or in the future?
Regards
Mango

Please forgive me as this may seem rude ! Are u getting another conure because the one u have is too loud ? My reason for asking is I placed a deposit on one & believe me No regretsBut my vet thinks ( big mistake ) he laughed & said they are way to loud. So if this is y u are after a friend l also would like to know as l would need to order a 2nd conure but maybe a sunnie or Cinnamon . Will check back later , Thanks for any input .. ;D

Hi Tasha, While his call is pretty high pitched and he can be loud at times, he does not have long screaming fits, or at least not at the moment. Usually he calls early morning and afternoon, and when he sees me and wants to be let out of his cage or be with me. Im currently on leave so he is probably getting spoilt more than he should. The reason im thinking of getting a second one is for him to have a bird buddy for while im away at work etc. A good question would be how loud are 2 jenday conures together?

No Jenday Conure breeders around? Seems to be a bit rare

Yes they are much rarer than Sun Conures - have you checked out Petlink, and Gumtree can also be quite good for bird sales.
cheers,
Mike

There are a few being advertised on petlink and 1 on gumtree that was put on last night. Was hoping to get it off a breeder that somebody recommends though, petlink is a scammers haven, $200 African Grey anybody?
Ive sent a few queries in asking for pictures of the parents, as well as their cages, no replies yet...

If I cant find a Jenday female, how would Sun Male do as a birdy buddy? Wife is keen on an Eclectus though, not sure how they would get along?

Yes a male Sun should be fine - they always seemed to mix OK when we had both in our shop. And it takes away any breeding type problems!
Not so sure about an Eclectus though, a big size and behavioural difference - Robyn might like to comment on that one.
cheers,
Mike

You keep mentioning breeding type problems Mike, is it really that bad? Can you give some examples?
Cheers

If you decided that u must have a janday! Their is a husband&wife team that breed sunnies, janday.s. But the live in Melbourne You would need to have bird freighted. P.s l don't know if they freight birds . Look up breeders parrots, jjaviaries@petmania.net.au Taking orders now. Hope this may help, Ciao.

Thanks for the info Tasha. Not sure how the freight works and if its a good idea with the poor baby though.
Ill keep looking for a bit, otherwise might go for an alex, seems to be plenty of them around.

Ive just been told by some guy on gumtree that female jendays have smaller heads than male jendays and that I dont need dna sexing to prove the bird he is selling is female..../avoid!
