Baby will only eat apples but everyday I offer her a mixture of fresh vegies and try different fruits, I have tried putting a lil seed in with them to entice her and i have also tried adding her pellets to it as well. I have offered her the vegies out of my hand and she will try them that way but only little bits. But she will not go near them in her cage.
If anyone has any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated, I bought her from a breeder and she was eating fresh fruit and vege everyday but hasnt eaten any vege for me. I really want her to be the healthiest she can be so I am after any help I can find.
Thank you in advance Mel

Well I put her vegies on a piece of paper on the bottom of the cage and she got stuck right in to them, she has eaten nearly the whole lot. So while I don't know why she wont eat them from the dish I am just happy to have her eating them.

Hi There melly78. I was meaning to reply to this earlier, but have been a tad side tracked. Great news your little conure is eating her F & V now. I was actually going to suggest placing the food on the floor on papertowels, so that's great. When weaning, lots of people put the foods under foot so to speak to encourage the babies to pick things up and "play" with them...thus also, encouraging them to eat new things. I do this with all my baby birds, being careful of course, that it doesn't get soiled and it's not left in there for too long. Eventually baby will eat from a bowl, just for now - leave her be....maybe slowly cut down the pieces on the bottom and place some in the bowl....she will learn, they are very clever!! Goodluck!

Hi Mel, as Flossy has also mentioned the floor of the cage is best for youngsters at least until they learn to stand on 1 foot & hold their food in their other foot. That can take some time.
When i have a clutch of weaning GCC'S i use those little shallow cat dishes (from the $1 Stores) on the floor of the cage.
I would also like to suggest some sprouts for your little guy. All parrots love a variety of foods.

Thank you both so much for your replies. I wasn't aware of the floor of the cage thing all I was told when I purchased her was that she was eating everything on her own, but I am happy to let her go at her own pace as long as she is eating.
I did also try sprouts which she also didn't eat but now I know about the floor of the cage I will of course once again offer them to her again.
Thank you both again so much.

Thank you, she has been getting stuck right into her food now and eating everything up. I am so glad I was able to find a way for her to eat well. Thanks so much
