Hello, I have a twelve y.o scaley breaster lorikeet, his cage finally caved in, not being sure how long scaleys live, we bought another. We had to put it together ourselves, it`s an SY 222 with a roof and wheels, also a slide out tray. I`m after some advice, the roof doesn`t fit securely, the tray falls out, does anyone else have a similar one or know anything about these cages. Henry came to us as an orphan, he has never been able to fly, we took him to the Vet when we found him, we had the choice of either having him put down or getting a permit (as we are in Queensland) and keeping him. Im just a little concerned about the roof on this make of cage, and the tray. If anyone can help, thanks. I`ll show a pick (Henry loves it)

Sorry I am not familiar with this particular cage - why not go back to the shop you purchased it from and ask them to show you how to fix up the problems.
Scaly-breasts should live between 20 to 25 years given a good lorikeet diet.
and welcome to the Forum,
cheers,
Mike

Thanks, I`ll do some adjustments myself to make sure he is safe, he loves his cage. Not much help where we bought it, they have the "we sell them, don`t advise" approach. It`s no wonder birds escape, we had a budgie in the yard the other day, he`s hanging around the wild rainbow lorikeets. I put a cage out in the hope of catching him, he looks tame.
