OK as posted in another thread, Tilly (my turk) has 3 babies hatched I see that there is an egg in there that has not hatched. I know with my canaries they ditch the clear egg over the side as they have open nests. Does anyone have any ideas what to do with the spare egg? Will it go rotten in the nest or do I remove it? I'm sure parrots have some way of dealing with them in the wild.

I usually throw mine out. I guess in the wild after the babies fledge they just move on. They usually end up going black inside.

That's good news, always exciting to get babies for the first time from a "new" pair. I will generally take out the unhatched egg once I am sure it isn't going to hatch, so perhaps by the end of the week you can be sure it is a dud.
cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll check on the weekend and take it out if it's still there. We are going away for 10 days on Monday and have some-one to feed/water them but she's inexperienced around birds so hopefully the bubs will be OK. They still have a while in the nesting box yet.
