My rainbow lorikeet girl, Cheeky, is new to eggs. Laid her first 2 earlier this year. The first batch she never sat on, the next batch she sat on for 5 mins at a time. This last batch, she does leave them to eat and for a brief break or play, but she spends most of the day and all of the night sitting on her (now fake) eggs.
New is a soft bleating noise that she makes during her awake time of sitting on eggs. She doesn't make this noise when sleeping on the eggs, but the soft bleating noise seems to on repeat mode during her awake sitting on egg time. Is this normal? It is not an annoying sound and it wouldn't bother me at all, if only I knew if it was normal. It sounds like she is crying.
Anyone experienced this?

my red collar lorikeet Rio, does this as well very rarely, though, back when i first got him and just let him sleep ontop of my curtains , which is where is previous owner let him sleep, though i put a bed up there for him. Anyway, sometimes, and im not entirely certain why any more, i needed to get him down off the curtain at night, he would make a very weak and comparitively low pitched crying noise whenever i attempted to get him down. of course he would bite me very aggressively when i tried to get him down. from experience, it sounds like a warning for anything to stay away, which in your situation makes a great deal of sense since your bird is trying to hatch some eggs.

I agree with oldmanbeefjerky. I've heard of this exact same problem as it happened to my aunties bird when she was sitting. She was wasn't sure what to do, but she just let her sit and eventually stopped doing it as much when the babies hatched. So I think it is something like a warning for anything to stay away.

My Rainbow hen does this before and after laying she sits under the newspaper in her night cage and shreds paper then starts her (clucking noise).;D Night times she stops about 10 mins after the light's and tv go off. . But if someone should sneeze, cough or get up to go to the toilet at any time of the night she starts again for a while. She has done this for the last three breeding seasons. She still eats normaly but is bitey during this time. We also have wild Rainbow's nesting in a nesting box in our garden and they make the same noise, a little softer though. Good luck
