I bought this rosie for my mum at the local pet shop and was curious as to what sort of rosie it is. I have never seen one with these colours before. It is a few months old now and has had one moult since it's feathers came through properly. Any ideas would be awesome! P.S. I apologise if the photo is hard to see. Am still working out how to use the forum Attachments:

Looks like a young Eastern Rosella - the bird should colour up over the next 6 to 12 months. It does seem to have bluer wings than normal though - will be interesting to see it in 12 months time What did your local pet shop call it - being a native bird I assume they would have had to give you a proper receipt at a minimum to show it did not come from the wild. In some states such as Queensland you would have had to have a state government form provided with the bird - called a Movement Advice in Queensland. cheers, Mike

Yeah, I would have thought eastern as well but this photo doesnt exactly do him justice. His chest and tummy is more blue with a hint of green. I have two easterns and thier chests and tummies are more yellow and red and whatnot as per normal. The pet shop just called it a rosie and said it was handraised. It was 8 weeks when I got it and was pretty used to being handled and didnt try to bite. I am in NSW so I guess they didnt need so much paperwork.
He is defiantely interesting. Could he be the product of two different rosies? His tummy actually looks alot like that of the Pale headed Rosies.
