Hi all
Just wondering. Our new aviary, it is around 1.7 metres long and around 1 metre deep. How many pairs of Budgies could live happily in this space.

It depends - are you wanting to breed or just have a pretty aviary?
If you are hoping to breed then 3 pair max - with 5 nest boxes all identical and the same height.
If it is not a breeding aviary then 6 pair should be OK.

For breeding I would not like more than 2 pair and 4-5 nest boxes like mike said.
For non breeding 8 birds maximum if paired, 10 birds if same sex.
That is just my opinion as sometimes they really just want to get away from each other.
