Hi everyone, I have not posted for a while as things have been good and steady with Bob, he is still a pink chicken but that is normal. We moved house late last year and are building a new house so I thought Bob should get an upgrade as well. So I picked up a new cage 2m by 1,2 with a dome top that opens up with a perch, of cource bob won't go on that but what the hell. I put 4 perches at different levels and he likes the adventure and extra wing room and of course he still has his outside house when it is not too hot.
The reason for the title though is that now I have a spare cage and feel the need to fill it or put it out the front with a sign saying FREE. Personally I think a Princess parrot or a Eastern King would be VERY nice to add but they are VERY expensive in WA. $200 for a Princess and $375 for a King hand raised though so it may not be too high but very tempting. What would you do?

what would "we" (bird aholic people) do??? What a "silly" question. I remember the days when I thought $800 for an eclectus was a lot of money lol........I almost cried when parting with that money 8 years ago..........now I own a RTB2 also (along with an eclectus and alexandrines and cockatiels). From what I hear both birds can make lovely pets........but I have heard the kings make lovely pets and can talk reasonably well too.

Yes I know it was a silly question but has to be asked non the less. My wife works with someone who has a lot of birds and has friends who bread or have access to both birds hand raised for $100 less than where we were on the weekend. Not sure if we will go ahead as we are in a smaller house at the moment and another cage inside could be a pain. BUT we will see how strong we both are as time goes on and if the cage stays behind on the next hard rubbish day.

Not sure where you were looking at getting the birds from previously but breeders usually are cheaper than pet shops.

Hi, No I would not buy from a pet shop, this is a well known supplier with a very good rep but also known for being a bit over the top on price so we were told. It was funny while we were there a bird of prey flew over and the whole place errupted with movement and noise, crows went off and chased it away and some of the birds froze for 10 min or so, very interesting to see so many react.

I'm the wrong person to ask. Cause I would end up with both. I wouldn't be able to decide.

Is it a places that just sells birds? I think we can name businesses on here. I from Perth too and we all know the place to avoid is Birdworld. Unfortunately I used to get my canary seed from City Farmers but they changed the formula and the canaries hate it! Who the hell puts wheat in a canary mix? So I have to go and get my mix from Bird world now. I see so many people paying over inflated prices for birds there makes me cringe.

Hi there,
No not Bird World Perth not to be confused with Birdworld in the eastern states which has nothing wrong with it! I refused to go back there along time ago because of the condition of the birds. I prefer not to say where I was cos they have lovely stock there but somone told me they were over priced so it is due to lack of knowledge on pricing that I say that. I get my pellets from Better Pets and Gardens, they seem to have alot of product perhaps you could try their stuff.

oh and it is a good idea to not mention names if it is in a negative light.........it might be seen as slander. No reason why you cannot privately message each other though if you really need to know.........but then at least we as a forum cannot be held liable. If it is a positive...........then mention it

I would like to tentitively add an opinion on the obove mentioned place. I went in there today and I must say it has changed for the better as far as it appears on the surface. There was no overcrowding or signs of sick birds and it was 200% better than my last visit, I almost considered buying something so credit where credit is due.
