Hi John, Saw you mentioned a new ferret! I have had four in my lifetime. One I called " killer" because he bit me at least 100 times but turned out to be the sweetest of them all. I also had a pure white one "Bigfoot" because he had these huge feet! They were the most fun! I never caged them but they had their own room for night sleeping. They are always into mischief. Also, if you can't find your car keys you will know who took them lol. Great little thieves they are. Enjoy your new baby while you are recovering. Regards Montana

We have a girl here that brought her first ferret out off a pet shop The poor thing is only 8 weeks old and even I know a pup should never leave it's mother before 12 weeks. So the ferret is now anti social and bites them. I asked her had she done any research on buying such a pet for a newbie, no. Like us rat breeders, we never sell our litters to pet shops and only bad breeders do so usually for profit. So the poor ferret is probably doomed to a miserable life as it gets more anti social and they are now sacred off it. I said she should either return it to the pet shop and demand that it was too young to be sold or better still give it to a ferret rescue centre, and there is one in Perth. Another reason why most pet shops should be banned from selling anything but fish or only experienced bird dealers like Mike should hold a license to sell animals. Rant over!
