... How do you catch your birds in a suspended aviary? We are going to bite the bullet and probably make one and I've been meaning to ask everyone I know when I see their aviaries but I always forget. I see their 2m+ high aviaries with these small doors on 4m long cages with all these birds in it and think, "how the heck do you catch them?" I know it's most probably soooo easy anyone could see it but I'm just blind to the whole thing. Hope you all had a good laugh and if anyone can focus on the screen through all the tears I'd love a reply Amanda

Amanda I use a normal bird net with a padded surround but also have an extendable handle similar to the ones painters use for their rollers just a tad shorter!

so the key is to make the door just big enough for a person to get half in? I thought it might me a net jobbie but I wasn't sure especially with the real big cages I've seen.
Don't mind me I'm just out to add a little Hilarity to everyones day! ;D that and I'm a goose!

Hi Amanda, we have a saying here at AussieBirds " The only stupid question is the question you don't ask" and thats a question I have always wondered about my self as all my aviaries are walk in's.

You know what a great idea is (hardly anyone would goto this trouble) is to have 2 doors and have a divider in it that u can control IE non toxic shadecloth on a reel like system that you can wind up or down and keep the birds in 1 section it may make it easier i suppose the meterial you use would depend on the bird you have in it... well thats my silly idea non the less thought it might be an idea for someone ;DMbMe ;D

The other method for deep long suspendeds is to have a hatch in the miidle of the aviary flooring made out of the same wire so you pop half your body thru it! Frank

You know we thought of all those things then thought of how much hard work it would be to make and it all flew out the window! We thought of the mid length barrier, one of mu smaller cages has one. Thanks everyone for your wisdom! True Gods of the bird kingdom. PS did you all know that this is my 100th post, I haven't been here that long either!
