Hello, I have had my Nanday, Buddy, for about four weeks now and he is making great strides in socializing. He is a very cautious bird does everything slowly. He is very unsteady on fingers and prefers arms. Now that the weather is warmer and wearing short sleeves he is reluctant to get on my arm so I have to wear a light sweater. Given his cautious nature I was wondering if I should spritz him for bathing? I have tried everything else to entice him into the water. Bowls, pie plates, etc. Nothing works. In his temporary cage he tried taking a bath in his water bowl. Now in a more substantial cage the water bowl is smaller and locked in. I don't want to destroy the trust we have acquired by misting him? That would take away his choices? What do you think? Regards Montana

Try spraying the female first when he is around and then move on to him and see how he goes - if he sees that she is enjoying it then he will likely want to try.
cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike, Buddy liked the misting. He wasn't screeching or running away so I assumed he liked it. He lifted up his wings and bowed his head. Very accomodating. Afterwards he dunked his head in his water bowl twice. I had the heat on 75 it felt like a sauna! Thanks as always for the good advice.
Regards Montana
