Just wondering if making a cage using one of those extra large plastic containers on wheels you get at the discount variety stores for quail would work? Line the bottom with newspaper, place a litter box of sand in and half log or a pot for a nest, waterer and feeder. Cover the top with some mouse proof wire. How big would it need to be for 1 pair of king quail? This would be temporary for indoors during this cold spell we are having. My aviary wont be ready until September.

They would survive but whether they would be happy is a totally different question. My preference for a pair of King Quail is around 2 square metres floor area. If the more confined the greater chance of aggression and you may well find the female gets beaten up by the male, or more rarely the male can be on the receiving end.
cheers,
Mike
