I've never seen a bird that goes on so many holidays. Has Chucky got her own passport yet, lol?

I've never seen a bird that goes on so many holidays. Has Chucky got her own passport yet, lol? LOL, no not yet, but I dont think we are leaving this wonderful country any time soon. If the caravan can't go - we generally don't go! Wow I've never seen at bird at a beach! Does she enjoy it? Also thye are magnificently clear photos. Chuckles loves to travel. She gets great enjoyment out of seeing some of the places we go. It is very entertaining in the car, 'cause when a car, bus or truck is overtaking us, there is a voice in the back seat that always goes "Wooooooo" and you cant' help but laugh. As for the beach, Chuckles doesn't mind it, but as she really doesn't spend too much time away from me, she will only sit there in the sand when I am with her. And of course, I wouldn't expect anything less. It was a really windy day on the beach, the poor little bugger was holding on as best she could to that log. As for the pics - I just point and shoot - so easy to do when you have a bright red subject to photograph. :-)

I didn't get to take a lot of photos whilst we were away this time, as my husband took ill, but here are a few of the wild birds I photographed. I have a few more, but I don't want to get too carried away

Thanks Bumblebee, (love your name by the way). Chuckles never goes anywhere without her harness. I've never clipped her wings, and generally she never does try to fly away. It is just that off chance that something might scare her and she would take off in fright. I have two different harness'. Both have their good points, and both have their bad.

Did it take long to Harness train her? did you do it at a young age? Jax is 1 now and I have ordered one thinking he can go out with us more with it. I have previously lost a bird (clipped) through a fright and he flew through the open front door. It terrifies me when I see people taking birds out un harnessed. I know harness' have their cons like if you lose grip and they do fly off the harness can catch on things etc. But I would like to take Jax out and that is my only safe choice.

Oh! What a beautiful happy looking bird! xx Beautiful yes, but she's mine so I am a little biased! And Chuckles is one happy bird for sure. Who wouldn't be when you are fed what you like to eat, given fresh water every time you need it and gets to sleep on a cushion! Wow, Jax is one already. Gosh that has gone fast! Chucky has been wearing her harness from day dot. She took to it like a duck to water, as they say. Chuckles is very comfortable with me running my hands over her face, and touching her under the wings and anywhere on her body for that matter. She actually loves to have her feet rubbed, she will sit for hours and let me rub her feet. If Jax is comfortable with you touching him, I can't see why you can't harness train him. I wouldn't just go throwing it on him and expecting miracles. I would sit the harness beside his cage for a week or so and then slowly let him "chew and feel" the harness so he isn't terrified of it. Then slowly but surely I would start to try and put it over his head. If it makes sense, I would first "mimic" putting the harness on, so he sort of gets the idea of what is gonna happen when you do put it on. Each harness I have I use for different reasons. If we are just going for a drive and I don't need to put Chuckles back in her cage, I use the Aviator Harness. As once it is on her it doesn't unclip as easy as the Premier brand of harness. I use the Premier one when we are on holidays, as it has the dog clips, so I can easily clip the lead on and off when putting her in her cage. I have Chuckles little brother as well, and he is in the aviary as a breeder bird, and I don't spend no where near the time with him that I spend with her. But he is comfortable and "trusting" enough for me to put the harness on him as well. I think trust is a big issue with Eckies. Hope this helps :-)
