hi, i'm new to the forum
i found a baby magpie the other night running around jumping trying to fly with no luck.
i was watching it for about half an hour, but it was on the road nelly getting hit by cars.
not long after the cats started to come out, so i ended up catching it and bringing it inside.
i have been letting it get around the back yard hoping it will get up and fly but no luck at the moment.
so i have it in a cage with water but keeps tipping it out. i'll be trying every day to see if i can get it up flying,
but what are the chances of it serviving? i'm not sure what i should be feeding it eather to keep it's strength up.
what should i be doing to keep this bird alive (what food and best way to make sure it's drinking)
and hope it gets up and flys soon.
since i have been letting it out the back there are 3 others that attack it, not sure if it's mother,
farther and another baby.. it's mostly the other baby that is attacking it..
i hope you can help me out with this
cheers

Best thing to do is contact your local wildlife rescue people - they will have the expertise to care for and then release it back into the wild once it is able to look after itself. If you can't find a contact umber tell us where you live and someone here might be able to give you a number to call. Alternatively local vets often have the contact details.
In the short term until you have called them you might give it some very lean beef mince and some chopped up finely chopped up vegies such as corn, carrot, bok choy, apple. If you look like having it for more than a day get some bird vitamins and give it a small pinch mixed with the meat each day.
cheers,
Mike
