Hi everyone, my red factors are breeding ;D i didn't expect them to start breeding so soon (as i've only have them about 3 to 3 1/2 weeks) but the female made a nest and now she has one egg (i think) and the male was feeding her ;D how long before the eggs would hatch?

Ok your hen should lay a few eggs over a few days and then she will sit on them. 5 apparently is the norm but with my canaries there is normally 3-4. Hatching will take place in roughly 2 weeks. I have varying luck with my canaries in my aviary, some are good parents, some aren't and lots of my young don't make it. Sounds like you have a good pair there that are doing all the right things. How do you house them? In aviaries it is not an exact science and may thing influence the survival of the young, that's why "true" canary breeders have breeding boxes or cages to ensure max numbers and can keep an eye on individuals and their young. That seems about the norm, check when they hatch and take out any clear eggs as they can go rotten in the nest and when smashed open promotes bacteria etc that can harm the new babies

I have bred hundreds of Canaries, I use to breed in Cabinets, I had 24 Cabinets going at one stage, the last few times I bred in aviaries with no problems, just make sure you put enough egg food in there for them

Sounds like you are doing all the right things, up to the parents now to raise them properly. As I said before some are better at than others
