Can anyone give advice. We live on teh mid north coast of NSW adn a Galah has decided to make the surrounds of our house home. He comes back and sits in the trees near by adn obviously responds to humans. Our samll dogs dont seem to bother him.We ahve put out some seed - whatever was in the pantry. pepita and pine nuts. Two questions Will he survive like this? Is it likely he will join a flock in time? We don't want to cage him.

Galahs are pretty smart birds and it is likely that he will survive - possibly with the help of supplementary seed put out for him. Get some Cockatiel or Lovebird seed mix - the best for a Galah. If you hav ewild flocks around your area it is likely that he will join that flock eventually and his survival in the wild will be fine.
Since he appears to be an escaped pet or aviary bird have you checked if anyone has advertised a lost Galah in your area - check the local papers, vets and pet shops to see if someone has reported it lost.
cheers,
Mike
