I came across this little fellow during the rain a couple of days ago: he was on the road and lost. I tried to find his nest over a couple of days, but still no luck. He has been eating a mix made from my galah's pellets all smashed up with warm water and he appears to be thriving on it (although it sets like concrete when dry and it's virtually impossible to get it all from his feathers, so he is looking a little clumpy and bedraggled). I'm unsure what to do. Can anyone help with his approximate age and how long it will be before he gains some independence? Also, is there a good carer who would like him? I'd also like to know if there is any likely-hood of disease transfer between crested pigeon and galah?? Any advice is truly appreciated. Cheers Joiner Attachments:

Looks about 4 or 5 days from his first flight - and there is very little risk of disease being passed on to your galah - just keep them separated to be on the safe side.
I have often bought young, sick or injured wild birds into my house for care without ever having any problems as a result.
cheers,
Mike

I'm in Brisbane ... Holland Park. And Mike, you are right! He's just started flapping about a bit! Thanks to both of you for your replies. Cheers joiner
