Hi everyone, My Cinnamon quail hen is sitting on eggs! She has seven eggs, and hasn't laid anymore since Saturday. I think that the male is split for Cinnamon, but I'm not entirely sure... She's been on the eggs for a week now, unlike my other hen -_- (the one that decided to lay fertile eggs at the same time, I think they're fertile as these ones are in a group, unlike all the others, she abandoned them after three days). Will any of the chicks that hatch have the possibility of being Cinnamon, and are Cinnamon's still as easy to sex as normals? I've never had chicks from this hen before, or had her sit tight on any eggs ;D I hope they hatch!!! ;D XD

Cinnamon in quail is a sex linked gene, so for any babies to be cinnamon the male will need to be split for cinnamon. If he is, then on average half the babies will be cinnamon. If he is not split then they should all be normal. Sexing is basically the same as for normals.
cheers,
Mike
