Can Budgies Get 'Dog Fleas'?

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if my bird would be able to get fleas from my dog? She has been treated for fleas, but my budgie loves her and he was running down her back... I've never heard of it, but it was just a thought...

I've never heard of birds having flea problems - and would suggest looking at www.parrotchronicles.com/askavet/fleas_askavet.htm - James Harris, who wrote the answer to a similar question, is one of the most respected avian vets in Australia.

I should note that a Google query turned up a variety of answers - but James Harris's answer is the most authoritative one I saw, and the one I would believe.
