Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and am hoping to learn as much as I can before I get a bird. I'm hoping to get a short billed Corella in the next year or two. They seem like lovely birds and I'm told they are not as noisy or temperamental as some of the other large parrots. I've never had anything bigger than a budgie so this will be a big jump for me! Does anyone have these guys? Anything I should know about them? How much time do you spend with them each day? Is either sex better as a pet? Does anyone know of a good breeder in Victoria? I would like a hand-raised baby. And lastly, I'm paranoid about PBFD. Do people test for it before buying a bird or is it just one of those things?

Hi,
I breed Short bills and long billed corellas, they can be very loud when they want to be. They are full of character and good talkers.
Where abouts are you in Victoria? I am located in Mt Gambier, after some scares last year with PBFD I now test EVERY bird that enters my property so I don't have to go through it again, not something I would like someone else to go through. In Victoria you have to be VERY careful a bird you are buying isn't a 'wild caught' bird. Most bird dealers sell these birds and do claim they are tame. Best thing to do is to ask to see the parent birds and baby pics from when it hatched.
