Hello to all the members here. I have only just found this forum and I'm looking forward to making new friends and learning from those who have had wonderful and not so wonderful experiences with your birds. I currently have 11 wonderful cockatiels... who I adore. Some have been raised by their parents others we have received from friends...it is one big happy family. The oldest is 11 1/2 and the youngest will be one on Anzac day. face to you all Regards.

Hi and welcome to the Forum, hope you enjoy your time here. As you will have seen it tends tobe more a place to come to get, and to hopefully give, advice rather than general chit chat. However we always enjoy reading about member's birds, and especially seeing their photos.
Cockatiels are great little birds. We have just 4 house pet tiels now - it has been much higher in the past. The remaining ones range from around 21 down to 16 years old. We also have 7 aviary cockatiels, all retired breeders that have become too old for breeding and are living out their lives along with a crowd of other retired birds in a large outside aviary.
cheers,
Mike

Hi there, Wow, you have a houseful, lucky you! Do they all get on well? I wish we could fit a flock of ringnecks in our house... We are looking to get another ringneck for our bird as soon as we find the right one. I joined this forum recently too, I've been trawling the internet for anything ringneck related since we got our ringneck in November to learn anything I can about them!

Hi there, Wow, you have a houseful, lucky you! Do they all get on well? I wish we could fit a flock of ringnecks in our house... We are looking to get another ringneck for our bird as soon as we find the right one. We have a total of 21 permanent pet birds in the house - plus two baby ringnecks currently that I hope to find homes for. Besides the 4 cockatiels we have 10 Alexandrines, 2 Ringnecks (both around 20 years old) 2 Princesses. a Plumhead and 2 African Greys. The Greys are the youngest - 6 and 7 years old, and almost all are well into their teens. All get on pretty well, except when the breeding hormones are flowing in the Asiatics when problems arise mainly between the girls. If you want a flock of ringnecks it is best to stick to males only - females generally can't stand each other but the males almost always seem to get on OK with each other. cheers, Mike

Hi Mike,
I think I met you at the scas meeting a couple months ago, through Janey and Charlies owner.
Thanks for the tips. Realistically I cant have flock of ringnecks, i just like the idea....
Hey, would you know of any parrot rescue organisations on the coast? I've been looking for one that might want a volunteer for a couple hours a week.
Regards,
Claire

Yes that was me No. there is no parrot rescue service on the Sunshine Coast that I am aware of, but there is one on the Gold Coast - www.parrotrescuecentre.com/index.php - also a good source of toys for parrots, which goes towards supporting their programs. cheers, Mike
