i got a rainbow lorikeet from a friend 4-5 days ago... and he keeps getting into EVERYTHING, clothes, laptop, food... etc...
he's exhausting me with his 'playing' and if he's not looking and getting everything into his beak he's going for my face, hair and toes. The noise is getting to me... not the small chatter but the loud screeches and barking...
Does anyone know how to calm an overly affectionate lory? I don't want to find a new home for him because he was a gift from a friend when i was suffering from the loss of my galah Marco and is my responsibility.
Can anyone help please?

Welcome the the world of the Rainbow Lorikeets Sounds like a perfectly normal hyer-HYPER-active Rainbow Lorikeet. There is nothing that can calm down an excited Rainbow except putting him in a cage in a dark room Not much I can suggest - an over active Rainbow is one of the "joys" of owning them. Just maybe get it used to being caged for regular periods, with plenty of things to keep it occupied when in the cage. cheers, Mike

I'd have to agree with 'avinet', Your bird sounds like my rainbow lorikeet (charlie), always a handful! He is a very happy & amusing little fellow though! lol
Sorry I couldn't be of much help
