Hi./ I live on the Sunshine Coast in QLD. We just had a brief period of very high winds and rain and I found this bird out the front afterwards. It can't fly away, but doesn't have any obvious broken wing. Can you please tell me what type of bird it is? It is some kind of lorikeet? We have lots of rainbow lorikeets around, haven't seen any blue ones. Thank you.

Looks like a rosella to me, a young one at that, probably just left its nest.

Thanks for the reply.
I guess it was blown out of the nest.
I took it to a vet, they are going to check it over and then give it to a local wildlife carers group. We also had a ringtail possum running around, so was quite a gust of wind.

It was a Pale-headed Rosella - a very wet Pale-headed Rosella! A young bird that was probably just left the nest hollow for it's first flight and chose the wrong time, got soaked and then couldn't fly. Two or three weeks with the wildlife carers and it should be fine to release back to the wild.
cheers,
Mike
