Hi my name is Cas, I don't currently have a bird, in February my cockatiel died, he was about a week short of 23 years old and he has left a bird shaped void. I am married, we have a very spoilt dog and we live in Adelaide.
I have a day job and I am studying!
I am currently preparing to get some zebra finches and that is why I have joined, I want to make sure I give them the best life I can!
I love birds, I have had birds in my life for most of it!
I can't wait to hear about your flocks,
Thanks
Cassie

Hi Cassie, sorry to hear about your cockatiel. 23 years is a long time, I can imagine how much you must miss him (such sweet little birds I only just got out of cockatiels a few months ago, otherwise I would have offered you a pair for your sorrows. I cant wait to hear all about your zebras when they arrive, I first started out by breeding those little guys (I love their songs that they sing). The only problem with zebras is that they are a gateway bird! You start with a pair, then 2 pairs & before you know it, you will have flights full of both soft & hooked billed buddies! lol

Hi Cas, I had two pairs of zebra finches in the past which quickly turned to about 20 finches within weeks. I loved the babies and I loved to watch them and listen to them but I also had two Nanday conures, an African Grey, a sun and pineapple conure and a green winged macaw. Sadly I had to part with the finches I had them all inside the house with the other birds and it became pretty overwhelming as they kept breeding. If your looking for birds just to watch and entertain that way the finches are always busy. But, if your looking for a companion bird you can interact with I think you would love a sun conure. Mine is gentle and sweet and loving and she is bonded to the pineapple conure. However, I still miss my finches to this day. Sadly, in my case I can't have them all. Good luck with your choices.
