Hi all, Today I got normal Red Rump male, to put with my Opaline Red Rump female. I am wondering what I would get from this pairing... Thanks in advance for any answers... All the babies will be Normal with the males being split for Opaline. Opaline is a sex-linked gene, so hens are unable to pass it onto their babies directly - only when the male is also carrying the Opaline gene. If your male is split to anything then other possibilities may occur. If he is split to Opaline, then half the sons will be Opaline and the other half Normals split to Opaline while the daughters will have half Opaline and the other half Normals with no splits. cheers, Mike

Thanks, I was just curious - the breeder said there is a possibility of him being split of blue...

Thanks, I was just curious - the breeder said there is a possibility of him being split of blue... That wouldn't change anything unless the hen is also split to blue. If that was to happen then 1 in 4 babies should be blue, with more complex splits possible as well. cheers, Mike
