Hi everyone,
Breeding has (properly) started with my birds. I have Red Rumps, Budgies, Diamond Doves (actually startedd a while before), Canaries, Quails and Zebra Finches.
I moved the Red Rumps into the now made up avairy (its been a week now, I would have put photos but the camera doesn't want to share its photos ), and yesterday I saw the male red rump feeding the female, and lately she has been investigating the nestbox. Originally I was goign to breed them through September to December (depending on the birds- clutches, ect) She has been going in the nestbox- mainly she stays near the top (entrance) but she has been going further/down in it. Also They have proper names. Everyone was just calling them 'The Parrot' or 'This Parrot' and the female was named 'Charcoal' but that has been changed! Thay are now Olive (Female Opaline) and Azure (Male Normal)
Te budgies have been moved into their breeding cage (a large one, it was in the post a while ago with Storm about 1m x 90cm x 1m, I think) The hen (Smoke -from her colour) has been emptying her nestbox, and the male (Indigo) has been feeding her
The Diamond Doves are sitting on eggs (we sold a few of them- now we only have 4 doves)
My first pair of Canaries (Red Factor) had babies but they died she has started making a nest in annother place now, and my other pair: a yellow Border canary hen, and a Roller canary cross have 3 babies (I'm still waiting for the other 4 to pair up- they've been giving hints to prospective mates)
The Zebra Finches have started making thier nest again (the other one they made got a bit ruined as the budgie hen was sitting on their eggs)
And the Quails, well two are sharing egg sitting. The cinnamon and a normal hen laid eggs together and both sit on them (I also remember this normal hen helped with the cinnamons chicks last time too) so far they have 7 eggs (4 cinnamon, 3 normal)
Its all going good so far
